Nail Reconstruction

LCN Wilde-Pedique Plus

With the increase in us wanting our feet to appear well cared for and attractive, nail cosmetic treatments are becoming more popular. Wilde-Pedique Plus, a modern corrective material, is an elastic UV gel specifically designed for toenails. It adjusts to the movements of the toe due to its flexibility making it feel very natural and comfortable to wear.

The gel has anti-fungal properties; the 'plus' is the anti-mycotic agent Olamine Piroctone which protects against fungal infections.

Indications

Damaged or Missing Nails
Whether due to trauma, sports injury, or surgically removed, nails can be reconstructed using Wilde-Pedique Plus. This allows the new nail to grow in alignment along the sulcus minimising the risk of an ingrown toenail.

Split or Cracked Nails
A Wilde-Pedique Plus overlay can be used to cover the split/crack, protecting the nail and preventing snagging

Fungal Nails
Wilde-Pedique Plus can be used in conjunction with anti-fungal treatment. It, in itself, is not a cure but seals the fragile nail, covers discolouration, and can limit the spread of infection.

Thickened Nails
After thinning the nails, a Wilde-Pedique Plus overlay can be applied to prevent fungus penetrating the nail.

Treatment

Wilde-Pedique Plus comes in variety of shades and one will be chosen that best matches your natural nail colour and skin tone.

For best results there should be some natural nail or nail spurs left to work with which allows the gel to adhere properly. Whilst it is possible to reconstruct toes without a nail using Wilde-Pedique Plus this is a short term solution that usually only lasts up to 48hrs as there is nothing for the gel to adhere to and so is only recommended for special occasion use.

The natural nail/nail bed is prepared and then layers of Wilde-Pedique Plus are applied thinly, shaped, and then cured after each layer under an LED lamp. The final layer can be adjusted to your preference - it can be left with a matt finish or a high shine layer can be applied.

Finished Nail

A Wilde-Pedique Plus nail can be treated like any other nail. It can be cut and filed and nail polish can be applied if required.

In theory, a reconstructed/overlaid nail will grow out in about 10 months, however it is good practice to have it checked by your Foot Health Practitioner every 6-8 weeks as there may be a need to refill/replace dependent on the condition of the nail and how the new nail is growing.
