What does a Foot Care Treatment Include?
-
Foot Health AssessmentFoot Health Assessment
A complimentary foot health assessment is included with every new client foot care treatment. This will assess the condition of the skin and feet, check blood flow, and response to touch sensation to detect signs of neurovascular impairment.
For regular clients, this forms part of your ongoing care - the frequency of assessments is planned according to findings on the initial assessment and then reviewed as necessary.

Nail Trimming Keeping nails short and tidy is probably the single most important aspect in preventing complications such as ingrown toe nails, infection, and skin trauma to adjacent toes due to long, sharp nails.
Nail Trimming
There are a variety of reasons for why people are unable to manage to cut and file their own nails. This may be due to poor eyesight, limited mobility or pregnancy, but whatever the reason, nails will be trimmed, filed and tidied as standard within your foot care treatment appointment.
If you are struggling to cut your fingernails, for a small additional charge I am able to trim and file these at the same time as your foot health appointment. -
Cracked Heels / Fissures Unsightly and often painful. Heels are treated with a combination of hard skin removal, smoothing and application of urea based cream.
Cracked Heels / Fissures
A maintenance programme of ongoing moisturisation at home is key in healing fissures and to minimise recurrence. -
Fungal Nails and Athletes Foot I am able to advise on and treat fungal infections of the skin and nail using medicaments with proven efficacy. Ongoing treatment at home in between appointments is often necessary.
Fungal Nails and Athletes Foot
A commitment to ongoing home treatment in the case of fungal nails is usually necessary as clearance of fungus is often slow and in some cases difficult to achieve. -
Corns and Callus As part of your foot care treatment painful corns are removed and callus is reduced. A review of foot wear is important in cases where corns and callus re-occur in the same place. Pressure offloading is sometimes indicated, and I am able to provide a variety of solutions in respect of this.

Verrucae Verrucae treatment is a hot topic for debate; the general consensus is that verrucae are stubborn and notoriously slow to eradicate. In many cases particularly in children and young people they will disappear on their own after an immune system response.
Verrucae
I will assess, offer advice and in some instances treatment may be indicated particularly when there is significant pain and callus build up associated with the verruca. -
Ingrown Toenails I can offer first line treatment and advice for simple ingrown toenails as part of your foot health treatment. It will however sometimes be necessary for you to be referred on to either your GP for antibiotic therapy if the toe is infected and/or a podiatrist for surgical intervention in more complex cases.
